Cache JOM Crowns Princess, Brave at Powwow

On Saturday, March 7, Cache JOM held its spring powwow at Cache Public Schools.

Mesa Tahchawwickah was crowned the 2026-2027 Cache JOM Princess, and Brandon Wermy was named Brave. She said the powwow is her favorite to attend.

“My favorite part is I get to be around people I love and people who support me,” Tahchawwickah said.

Her family has been a part of the organization for some time, and Tahchawwickah was introduced through her aunt.

“It feels really great because the people who are Native know and get what I say and do, and the people who are not Native get to learn what we do,” she said.

Tahchawwickah looks forward to going to powwows and representing Cache JOM.

“I will go to like the senior nights, anything that involves Cache, I'll be there,” she said.

Royalty from around the area were in attendance, including Comanche Nation Princess Isabella Ramirez, Comanche Nation Jr. Princess Tatum Burgess, Little Ponies Princess Arlene Schonchin, Walters Service Club Princess Reyna Serna, Comanche Tribal Veterans Association Princess Mikalyn Hoahwah, Elgin JOM Princess Jocelyn Blodgett, Indiahoma Native American Club Princess Tiana McClung and Tiny Tot Princess Johnnie Shae Romo, as well as other organization royalty.

The powwow featured gourd dancing and contest.
