Mission

The mission of the Comanche Nation Gravel Tinhorn Program is to improve the quality of life for our tribal members by providing safe, reliable, and well-maintained driveways and drainage systems. Through this program, we strive to enhance the accessibility, safety, and infrastructure of our community by ensuring that tribal members have proper gravel roads and functioning tinhorns that support daily transportation and prevent flooding.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for gravel for driveways and tinhorn repair services through the Comanche Nation Gravel Tinhorn Program, applicants must meet the following criteria and provide the required documentation.

  • Must be an enrolled Comanche Nation tribal member and 18 years of age or older.
  • Providing proof of your membership is required through the Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (C.D.I.B.).
  • Provide Proof of Primary Residence.
    • Acceptable documentation includes a utility bill showing the tribal member's name and primary address, confirming residency with the Comanche tribal member.
  • Services are available to tribal members who live within the Comanche Nation jurisdiction boundaries.
    • Services are provided within our Comanche Nation jurisdiction. (This includes the following counties: Comanche, Caddo, Cotton, Kiowa, Grady, Stephens, and Tillman)
  • Submit a completed service application with all required documents.
  • Tribal members are eligible for service once per year.
  • Out-of-State: tribal members are not eligible for services under this program. The program is specifically to assist those living within the Comanche Nation’s service area.

Services

  • The Comanche Nation Gravel Tinhorn Program is intended to assist tribal members with gravel driveway installation and reconstruction services.
  • The Heavy Equipment Operator will determine the work requested, including gravel pothole repairs, new tinhorn installation, tinhorn repairs, and tinhorn removal.
  • Gravel Tinhorn will not put gravel under carports.
  • We use 1 ½ crusher run rock for driveways and install one tinhorn per driveway, as needed.
  • Applications for the Gravel Tinhorn program are organized by town or city, not by date.
    • This means each town or city has a specific timeframe for applications.
    • It's important to submit your application during the designated period for your area, as applications received after the deadline will be reserved for the following year.
    • Emergencies are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Driveway Services:

The Comanche Nation Gravel & Tinhorn program offers two specific services to eligible Comanche Nation tribal members who live within the Comanche Nation jurisdiction:

  1. Gravel for Driveways: This part of the program provides gravel for use in driveway maintenance or construction. It helps tribal members improve the access and condition of their driveways.
  2. Tinhorn Installation and Repair: The program provides both the installation of new tinhorns and repairs to existing ones.
