Comanche Nation Princess
Arlene Schonchin is 16 years old and an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation. She is the daughter of
Lynn and Jolene (Jimenez) Schonchin, the granddaughter of the late Arlene Wockmetooah Jimenez and Joe
“Papa Joe” Jimenez on her maternal side, and the granddaughter of the late Lynn Schonchin Sr. and Linda
Jimenez on her paternal side. Her great-grandparents are the late Roy Wockmetooah and Lillie Tomahsah
Pratt Tieyah, and the late Anna Wockmetooah Tahmahkera. Her great-great-grandparents are the late
Charles Pratt and Rose Nahwats, and Judd (Wockmetooah) Komah and Edith Kowenoah. She is a
descendant of Comanche Chief Wildhorse and Comanche Chief Whitewolf (Esa Rosa).
Her great-grandmother Anna Wockmetooah Tahmahkera, gave her the Comanche Name, Nai?bi Nuukawapu
(Pretty Dancer) when she was an infant.
She is from the Comanche bands Kwahada, and Yapuruka.
Schonchin attends Elgin High School, where she is a junior. She is a member of the National Honor
Society. She is the president of the Elgin High School Native American Club and the Student
Representative for the Elgin JOM Board. Outside of school. She is the co-President of the IAMNDN Youth
Council, and she is a member of the Comanche Youth Dancers. She loves to attend powwows, play
handgame, and sing Comanche hymns. She likes to bake and sew every chance she gets. She has played
soccer for several years and is one of the soccer coaches for the Comanche Charter School. She is also an
active parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lawton.
She has been dancing in the powwow arena since she was an infant in diapers. She always loved dancing
at powwows and has danced all over the state of Oklahoma, across the country, as well as in France. She
has been asked to be on the Head Staff for several powwows throughout her life, which she happily
fulfilled.
She comes from a long line of Princesses on both sides of her bloodline. Her maternal grandmother, Arlene
Wockmetooah Jimenez, whom she is named after, was the 1945 Comanche Princess. Her mother, Jolene
Jimenez Schonchin, was the 1988 Comanche Tribal Princess, and her aunt and sisters have also held this
prestigious position.
Schonchin has held Princess titles since she was 10-years-old. In 2019, she was selected as the
American Indian Catholic Outreach Princess and held the title until 2022. In 2022, she was elected as
Comanche Indian Veterans Association Princess (CIVA) and held the position for two years. In 2024, she
was elected the Comanche Nation Jr Princess, and in 2025, she was elected the Comanche Little Ponies
Princess. She was very proud to hold each of these titles and did her best to represent them with honor
and respect, as her family taught her.
She is extremely grateful to represent the Comanche Nation as the 2026 Comanche Nation Princess
