Elgin Football Player Signs for Northeastern Oklahoma

Christopher “CJ” DeVine signed with Northeastern Oklahoma in Miami, Oklahoma. His family and friends gathered on Wednesday, February 4, at Elgin High School to celebrate the occasion.

DeVine will play football for the university and said it’s a solid program.

“It's a good program. There's a lot of guys in and out. So..go to a top-tier school…try to go to OSU (Oklahoma State University), OU (The University of Oklahoma), Tulsa. That's what I'm hoping for,” he said. “Go to a big school here with them. Hope I make an impact for them as well. I did at Elgin, then I hope I can just go and just go play at the next level.”

DeVine hopes to take his skills to the next level and make an impact.

“What I did for Elgin, you know, pulling, my pass protection, my run/block game, I'm going to translate that…for them,” he said. “And be dominant for them on the run game, pass game, protect their QB, protect my next running back.”

DeVine will major in criminal justice.

“It sounds pretty cool…be like a detective or a federal bureau agent,” he said. “You never know. Yeah. So, I just want to do that.”

DeVine has received several accolades this year.

“I recently just got all-star for football and all-state, real big…achievements for, just for an athlete in general, just get that and for football too,” he said. “So…I'm blessed to get that and…I'm ready to go play this all-state game in the summer.”

DeVine said he’s ready to get his college career started.
