Comanche Academy Student Elected as Kid Secretary
Comanche Academy Charter School student Daphne Tanequodle was chosen to be Kid Secretary of State for Oklahoma 2026 as part of the Oklahoma Kid Governor program.
She will serve a one-year term promoting leadership and advocacy.
“I'm looking forward to [going] to more events and helping with the homeless,” Tanequodle said.
On February 2, 2026, she will meet other students who ran in Oklahoma City.
Tanequodle is excited to go to the events.
“It felt exciting and awesome,” she said. “I was nervous at first, but…not really. It's exciting.”
Tanequodle’s platform for running was homelessness.
“In our community, there's a lot of homelessness, and I wanted to help out because they could be kids or families, and winter's coming,” she said. “And I love it.”
Tanequodle had to come up with three points in her platform and later do a project for one of them.
“First, I wanted to bring awareness to homelessness, and second, I would like to have food drives, and third, I would have a clothing closet and donations like toys and stuff…gifts for them,” she said.
Tanequodle will work with the Kid Governor and Kid Lt. Governor.
