Timothy Johnson Signs to Northwestern Oklahoma State University

Timothy Johnson signed to run cross country with Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, November 12, at Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

“Someone who's been there first and they said they could honor the scholarship if I got hurt, and that really helped a lot because last year I did get hurt with my meniscus,” he said.

Johnson said signing was a big deal.

“Coming from last year when I tore my meniscus, I didn't think I'd be back up to this point, but I'm here, so it feels great,” he said.

Johnson wants to pursue a degree in psychology or business.

“Psychology, I just really like to talk and understand, you know, more of an understanding person than business, just business,” he said.

Johnson’s personal accomplishment is sticking with it.

“Cross country isn't easy, and it's a whole mental battle, so only the strong ones stay up, you know,” he said. “It's really accomplishable to me, knowing I could do it all in three years, and I went to all-state twice, and I won regionals, so that's really good.”

Johnson will miss his friends and his coach, who kept him going throughout the sport.

The collegiate season begins in Fall 2026.
