Senior Spotlight: Jeremiah Martinez
Lawton High Wolverine Jeremiah Martinez is a senior who plays left guard and is number 73.
His grandparents on his dad's side are the late Tony Martinez and Rose Cable. On his mom’s side, his great-great-grandfather Is Paul Lancaster Komalty, and his great-great-great-grandmother is Birdie Fizzlehead.
He’s not sure what school he’s interested in yet. He might go to trade school in welding or HVAC.
In school, he’s part of the Native American Club with his sister. He said it’s a lot of fun to go to events together.
“The latest one, we went to the career day at the Comanche Complex, and we just went to different colleges,” Martinez said.
Outside of school, he plays video games such as Call of Duty and Fortnite.
On the field, Martinez has a mindset of beating the person in front of him.
“It's a different mindset when I get on the field. I feel like I'm a different person. I don't know, the mindset just takes over,” he said. “It's just a different me.”
Martinez said his motivation comes from Offensive Lineman Coach Xavier because they take everything seriously.
“He really motivates the whole line really to dominate,” he said.
His most memorable game was when he played Eisenhower because he had nine pancakes in that game, and the team won.
“When you put the person in front of you on their back, and you embarrass them, really, yeah,” Martinez said.
He said his mentor is also Coach Xavier.
“He teaches us life lessons, really, and how to take stuff real serious, how to be a man, really,” Martinez said.
He likes to cook with his mom, and his favorite dish to make is Indian tacos.
