Comanche Nation Jr. Princess
Clara Tee-Ohms Yazzie is the 15 year-old daughter of Darrell and Roxie (Kerchee) Yazzie. Her maternal
grandparents are Lori (Lyles) and the late Lewis Hurt, and Melvin Jr. and Debbie Kerchee. Her maternal
great-grandparents are the late Billy and Naomi (Whitewolf) Lyles, and the late Melvin Sr. and Nettie
(Coffey) Kerchee. Further, she also comes from the Saupitty, Chibitty, Chaat, and Mowatt families
through her great-great-grandparents. She is a descendant of Comanche Chiefs Esa Rosa, Mowway, and
Ten Bears and comes from the Kwahada, Yaparuhka, and Kotsoteka bands. She is an enrolled member of
the Comanche Nation and is also of Navajo descent through her father. Her paternal grandparents are
Alma and the late Darrell Yazzie Sr., and Chee Willie, all from Tuba City, AZ; the late Hennie and Sally
Yazzie of Sanders, AZ; and the late Mary T. Begay of Coalmine, AZ.
Clara is a freshman at Elgin High School, where she’s active in choir, band, theater arts, Native American
Club, and the Multi-Cultural Club. Some of her awards include: Two-time All-State Choir, two-time All-
Region Band, National Junior Honor Society Member, Mayoral Citation from Mayor Stan Book, City of
Lawton, as well as numerous academic and theater awards. She has been invited to sing the National
Anthem at various veteran functions, including the 26th Annual Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame
Ceremony. She has been cast in multiple productions with Elgin’s Theater Arts Program and enjoys
acting and singing on stage.
Clara served as the 2024-26 Comanche Indian Veterans Association Princess and attended many
functions throughout the state representing Comanche Veterans. Coming from a military family, she
always puts veterans and active duty in the forefront of her service and has sponsored activities such as
a Blue Star banner campaign, active duty care packages, and by attending functions at Fort Sill and Fort
Chaffee, AR as a guest. She was also the 2015-2016 Little Miss Comanche Homecoming.
Clara would like to thank everyone for their support and commits to representing the great Comanche
Nation with honor, dignity, and integrity as the next Comanche Nation Jr. Princess.
