Mission

The Comanche Nation Higher Education Department's mission is to provide support and guidance to Comanche tribal members in obtaining their educational goals.

Services

College Scholarship Program

The Comanche Nation Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to Comanche students attending accredited institutes such as colleges/universities and pursuing a Bachelor/Master/doctorate or two-year program. To qualify for the scholarship, the student must be an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation, be approved for admissions by an accredited college, need financial assistance, and give reasonable assurance they will be successful in completing a four-year college degree program.

Job Placement and Training

Adult Vocational Training – provides financial assistance to enrolled Comanche tribal members who are attending accredited vocational or trade schools for long-term training programs that are 600 hours or longer.
Direct Employment – financial assistance offered to enrolled Comanche tribal members who retain new, permanent employment before they receive their 1st full paycheck. To be eligible, applicants must be unemployed for six weeks or longer, have not applied for DE assistance within the last six months, and have not received assistance from the DE program within the last three years.
Relocation - a financial assistance for enrolled Comanche tribal members who are relocating for employment. For relocation eligibility, applicants must be relocating 200 miles or more.
Associate of Applied Science Scholarship – provides financial assistance to enrolled Comanche tribal members attending accredited colleges/universities who are pursuing an associate's degree in an Applied Science field. Emphasis is placed on courses that help students achieve immediate employability upon graduation. Scholarship amounts will depend on the number of credit hours the student is taking during the term.

Adult Education

Short-Term Training Program - assists eligible tribal members who attend technical schools and certificate programs with financial assistance for tuition, books, supplies, and exam fees.
The GED/*hiset Program is a 16-week course designed to prepare individuals to sit for the *hiset exam to earn a High School Equivalency (HSE) credential.
The *hiset exam is similar to the GED exam, but with a more straightforward testing format.
The GED/*hiset I class meets on Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The GED/*hiset II class meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Individuals interested in the GED/*hiset Program must complete the following application process:
Submit an Adult Basic & Secondary High School Equivalency (HSE) Course application.
Schedule TABE Test: The TABE determines a student’s current level of knowledge.
GED/*hiset Instructor Tracy Price will teach Language Arts Reading & Writing, and Social Studies. GED/*hiset Instructor Katrina Mitchell will teach Math and Science.
