Trick-or-Treat, Fall Festival Held at Comanche Nation Housing Authority
Comanche Nation Housing Authority held its first fall festival and trick-or-treat event since COVID-19 pandemic on Friday, October 24, in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Everyone in the community was invited to the festival, which featured several games, prizes and plenty of treats.
Comanche Nation Housing Authority Outreach Specialist Ciera Love said the department enjoys being festive.
“We love all the holidays here, so we just thought this would be a really fun way for everybody to kind of give back to the community while still celebrating the holiday,” she said.
Love’s favorite part is seeing the departments come together.
“And everybody's creativity, like you could see everybody's setups,” she said. “They all got so creative, and so I just really enjoy seeing that. The team building, the camaraderie, all of that.”
Love said planning was different than in previous years.
“We voted on a coordinator, which was Adra Martinez, and she did a great job. She and her assistant was Teta, this year Teta Thompson. They both just kind of did it,” she said. “I mean, they just scheduled everything out. They were really on the ball with everything, inviting the other companies to participate as well. So, they did a really good job. The planning really wasn't that difficult.”
The festival was focused on giving back to the community.
“It feels really good to feel like we're giving back to the community, especially our daycares,” Love said. “They work so hard. Childcare is hard. So, it feels really good to be able to give them something to do with the kids.”
She said collaborating with the other tenants and having meals together strengthens the camaraderie.
Love said the department has a great team that enjoys participating in events.
