Senior Spotlight: Phillip Pebeashy

Outside linebacker Phillip Pebeashy is a senior at Elgin High School and a football player.

He’s enrolled in a class to graduate early.

Winning State last year is one of Pebeashy’s most significant accomplishments.

“Just having a great season each year, my past four years,” he said. “One of my favorite things about it is having a positive record. Pretty sure we've lost like four or five games my entire high school career.”

Pebeashy said it was a crazy feeling to win State.

“Couldn't even like feel my body. I had so much adrenaline going; felt numb,” he said. “I was so happy. It was the best feeling in the world.”

Pebeashy said a lot goes into winning teams, especially those who lose so few games.

“That's like probably really hard for most schools to do,” he said. “It is hard for most schools to do, but we have a great program, and coaches love us, help us every day. It's mainly because of them, our coaching staff, and we hold ourselves accountable for every player, every teammate, every mistake.”

Pebeashy is going to miss a lot of the high school experience.

“Teamwork, all my friends, just being here every day after school, during summer pride, working out with my friends and everybody,” he said. “Just the discipline of being here. I'm [going to] miss that.”

Throughout his high school career, Pebeashy had all A’s and B’s and enjoys math class.

“Just makes me think a lot more, the numbers, because I use it a lot for my vo-tech at electrical, so I [got to] be smart in math to be good in electrical,” he said.

Pebeashy has several plans after he finishes school.

“During the summer, I'm going to be working a lot at my job, Discount Tire, and after school starts again, I'll be at Vo-Tech, finishing my last year there for electrical, and then I hope to pursue that at a job, commercial job, somewhere here for a couple years, and then maybe move down to Texas,” he said.

Pebeashy wants to go to Texas for the beach and the ocean.

He is the student representative for Title XI, which includes approving grants for Comanches at Elgin High School.
