Senior Spotlight: Mario Famero

Tribal member Mario Famero, a Cache High School senior, plays running back and linebacker for the Bulldogs’ football team, wrestles and runs track.

He always wanted to play football at a young age, but his mom wouldn’t let him, so he began his career in seventh grade.

Famero has multiple highlights in his athletic career.

“Qualifying for state and wrestling and being named team captain for the football team,” he said.

Famero is also in the Native American Club and enjoys being with those he already knows.

“I grew up with these guys, so I'm just kind of… used to it,” he said.

Famero said he will miss playing with his little brother when he graduates.

“Oh man, I love it,” he said. “You know, I get so hyped when he makes plays and, you know, every time he messes up and…he's really emotional like me, so it makes me emotional when I see him on the field making plays.”

Famero hopes to start dancing at powwows soon because his mom is involved.

“I mean, my mom's pretty much involved with it…pretty big in it, so I'm not so…involved, but I plan on dancing soon…she’s getting all my stuff so I can dance, so I plan on doing that,” he said.

Famero also enjoys playing Rainbow Six Siege.

He is currently in Vo-Tech and plans to become an electrician after studying at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
