Senior Spotlight: Julia Aguilera

Walters Lady Blue Devil and senior Julia Aguilera plays post for the basketball team.

“My uncle Hoss, he kind of talked me into it and ever since then I played since middle school and I loved it,” she said.

Aguilera said she’s going to miss being a part of the team when she graduates.

“And the people I played with, they are very, how do I say it, we are very much a team,” she said. “We very much are like sisterhood basically.”

Aguilera also attends Red River Technology Center and is working on her CNA and will receive her medical assistant certification this semester. She was influenced by her sister, whom she looks up to.

Aguilera will attend Cameron University to advance her medical career.

“I really like helping people at my CNA,” she said. “I work at the nursing home right now, and I'm just a big people person.”

Aguilera’s family is involved with the powwow culture.

“My Aunt Cherry and my Uncle Hoss, my Aunt Cherry has two other kids, three actually, and they dance the powwow every year in Walters, so I really got closer to that,” she said.

Aguiler likes to see the different dances and regalia.
