Comanche Owned Buisness: Clay's Services

Comanche Nation Tribal Member Clay Pherigo owns Clay’s Services, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 416 SE Wallock St. in Lawton, Oklahoma. They can also be found online at claysservices.com. The business began in 2014 and provides construction and landscape services as well as emergency services.

“I see myself as a general contractor that could help you solve problems,” he said. “You know, we're a service company. We're not necessarily landscape, concrete. We're here to provide problem-solving…and you don't have to call eight contractors. You know, I have a network of contractors like plumber, electrical…people that are licensed, so that you, you know, ‘I need this.’ And I can make it happen.”

Pherigo said he’s done various jobs, from concrete to awnings to turf.

He said customers can see past projects on the website, while he can keep track of the progress being made in real time.

“My guys go around take pictures of exactly what they're doing so that I can follow what they're doing throughout the day,” Pherigo said. “So, if I go users and right now, I could click on Amos and I can see what he's doing on his job site, you know. See at 12 o'clock, here they are. They're going to set up for concrete. We pour Monday.”

There’s also a contact page where people can submit service requests.

“And then it literally goes right to my system, and I can see right on my phone that you're requesting what service,” he said. “You know, literally pop up, somebody put one in today, and they say, quote, ‘To completely remove a large tree in my front yard, including stump grinding.’ Any…day, time is fine. It asks your availability. It asks me if the customer needs to be there for us to visit the site. So, the website really guides you exactly where to go to get something handled.”

However, for those who prefer a traditional approach, the office is also open.

“You can come to the office anytime,” Pherigo said. “A lot of times, our older customers, they come just directly to the office. They feel better that they can come to a brick and mortar and write a check and get a receipt. I mean, we still do old school, but we do both.”

He said it takes between one and three business days for a response, but usually it’s two.

Pherigo has done work at the prison and the Comanche Nation Daycare.
“The whole back area, the wall, the irrigation, the drainage, the trees,” he said. “We put some 200-gallon trees back there, a bridge, decks, a rain swallow. It was a lot. We were there for…months and months. So, that was one of our star projects.”

Pherigo said they can also maintain the projects they build for their customers.
