Private Ben Trevino, Comanche

Killed in Action on August 3, 1944

PVT Trevino was from the Verden and Anadarko areas. He was drafted into the US Army on July 10, 1941 and was a medic. Prior to shipment overseas PVT Trevino was stationed at Camp Harrison, Indiana, and in Massachusetts. He was sent to Iceland in August, 1942. PVT Trevino was then shipped to England and assigned to the 60th shortly before they landed at Utah Beach of June 10, 1944. After landing, the 60th took part in the St. Lo breakthrough and helped close the "Falaise Gap." It was during this operation that PVT Trevino was killed by multiple shrapnel wounds. His brother, Samuel, was captured by the Germans while another brother, Eddie, earned eight Battle Stars in the Pacific Theater. PVT Trevino is buried at the Brittany American Cemetery near St. James, France. He will forever be 21 years old (DOB August 5, 1922).
