Museum Hires Collection’s
Manager to Staff

Lauren Fuka has joined the Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center (CNMCC) as the museum’s new Collections Manager. She will be responsible for the management and care of the CNMCC collection, which includes maintenance of all collections, records and storage area and the compliance of appropriate standards, policies and procedures for the care and handling of museum artifacts. She will also plan and create museum exhibits for public display.

“Lauren’s outstanding academic credentials, valuable work experience, and enthusiasm for her job make this a win-win situation,” says Phyllis Wahahrockah-Tasi, executive director. “We are fortunate to hire an employee of her caliber.”

Fuka holds a Masters Degree in Anthropology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Prior to her graduate studies, she attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where she earned a Bachelors of Art Degree in Anthropology. She was previously employed with the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff where she worked as an Archaeological Collections Assistant and a NAGPRA Collections Assistant.

The Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center is an entity of the Comanche Nation. The museum opened to the public in September 2007 with the mission of preserving and expanding the knowledge of local communities about Indian Arts and Culture with an emphasis on Comanche history and culture.

The museum is located 701 NW Ferris Avenue in Lawton, behind McMahon Auditorium. The hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Admission is free and tour groups are welcome.
