• Attention Veterans - the CIVA is looking for any World War II and Korean War era Vets that have not been honored. For more information, please contact Harry Mithlo at 580-353-1329. There will be a CIVA Meeting November 6th at 6pm the Comanche Complex Old Conference Room.
•Good News!- Public Law CR 110-419 "Code Talker Recognition Act of 2008" was signed by President Bush on October 15, 2008. The U.S. House of Representatives approved the bill on September 26, 2008 and the U.S. Senate approved the bill on September 30, 2008. The Comanche Code Talkers, along with other Indian Tribes will now be eligible for the "Congressional Gold Medal of Honor". This is the highest honor given by the United State Congress. The United States Secretary of the Treasurer and United States Secretary of the Defense will now determine the issuance of the Medals. Tentatively, it is suggested that the awarding of the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor to the Comanche Code Talkers will be sometime between June to August of 2009 in the Rotunda of the United States Capital, Washington, D.C.
• CHR Fall Health Fair - All Native Americans Welcome to the Comanche Nation CHR Program Health Fair November 19th Comanche Nation Complex Gym 9am-3pm Health Screenings, Flu Shots, Health Vendor Booths.
• Christmas Tree Party - CHR Program is taking applications for the annual Christmas Tree party for Comanche children ages 0-12 years. The Christmas Tree Party will be held December 20th from 3pm-7pm at the Comanche County Expo Building 920 S. Sheridan Rd. Lawton, OK. Must attend party to receive children's gift. • Elders Day - The Annual Comanche Nation Elders Day Celebration will be December 19, 2008 at the Comanche County Coliseum. This is the day of celebration for Comanche Elders 62 years young and above.
• Per Cap Announcement! - Checks, in the amount of $1,268.60 will be issued the week of Thanksgiving 2008 by City National Bank, Lawton, OK.

• Medicine Bluff Resolution! - A Resolution # PHX-080-048 entitled "Protection of Medicine Bluffs National Historic Feature at Fort Sill" supporting the efforts of the Comanche Nation to protect the sanctity of Medicine Bluffs and the ability of Comanche people to carry on traditional religious activities relating to Medicine Bluffs and the preservation of the other southern plains tribes who consider the Site sacred was passed by the National Congress of American Indians at their annual 2008 session in Phoenix, AZ, October 19-24, 2008. The Congress also stated in the Resolution "BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the NCAI hereby calls on the U.S. Army at Fort Sill to refrain from any development within the Site, in order to protect and preserve its use as a sacred site, and to give serious consideration to an alternative location for the proposed warehouse; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the NCAI will communicate this position to the U.S. Army."
• Code Talker Recognition - The Congress of American Indians also gave recognition to the passing by the U.S. Congress and signing by the President of the United States of the "Code Talkers Recognition Act".
• November Complex Closings - The Comanche Complex will be closed on November 27th & 28th in celebration of the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Complex will re-open for business December 1st at 8am.
