Comanche Nation Fire ProgramThe Comanche Nation Fire Program has been active since 1996 and is currently located on Maddische Road across the road from the Comanche Nation Complex. To date, the program has established a Type-6 and Type-7 Engine Crew and a Type-II Initial Attack Hand Crew which is sponsor by the Bureau of Indian Affairs of Anadarko, Oklahoma. We currently patrol the following 12 counties of trust land for fires in Oklahoma: Comanche, Cotton, Tillman, Stephen, Jefferson, Caddo, Kiowa, Grady, Washita, Canadian, Cleveland, Pottawatomie, also nation wide and mutual aide with volunteer fire department if needed. The Comanche Nation Fire Program has four full-time employees and 32 emergency fire fighters. The program trains firefighters to suppress wild land fires, conduct controlled burns and coordinate fire prevention with tribal activities.
