Cahoma Community Center

The Cahoma Community Center was first named The Cahoma Industrial Development Corporation. It was formed in September 1964 by William Quetone, Lucille McClung, Laverna Chappabitty, Dick Codopony, Vernon Cable, Nick Tahchawwickah, Marjorie Kelley, Joseph Lonetree, Frank Poafpybitty, and Howard Niyah. The purpose for the cooperation was to promote industrial development in the communities of Indiahoma and Cache.

The present committee members are: Manager, Pat Tahdooahnippah; President, Charlene Tahdooahnippah; Vice President, Billie Kreger; and Secretary/Treasurer, Verna Cable.

During the past year, and Education Program has been established at the community center that includes an After School Program with Greg Cable as the director. There is a flea market on the second Saturday of each month that is handled by Eleanore McDaniel. There are numerous handgames, powwows, gospel singing, funerals, etc. that are held at the community center.

Community Center of Walters

The Comanche Community Center of Walters offers several activities to keep the community healthy. A baseball field, basketball court, and fitness equipment are available for use any day of the week. A youth program also focuses on students by helping with homework and tutoring.

Community Center of Apache

The Comanche Community Center of Apache has many activities throughout the year. The Comanche Nation Youth Program helps students 3:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Walking and exercise for elders is offered from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Young adults can use the exercies machines and play basketball 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Comanche Language classes are also held at the center. Conference rooms and the building are available to the community for activities. The officers are: Chairman - Edmond Tate Nevaquaya; Treasurer - Richard Attocknie; and Secretary - Esa Attocknie. They can be reached at the center by calling (580) 588-9400.
