Comanche Nation Onaa Program

The Onaa Program is designed to offer developmental information and support to parents of infants and young children. The Onaa Program partners with parents to help each child on the brain development of children ages birth to five years.

The Onaa Family Support Workers have received national certification from Parents As Teachers and continually received training through Healthy Families of America.

The program offers information on pregnancy and the birth of the baby. After birth, the developmental information focuses on language, social, emotional, intellectual, fine, and gross motor skills of the child. A Denver II Child Development Screening is administered to each child every 4 to 6 months. This screening evaluates the strengths or weaknesses's of the child in the four areas mentioned above. Informal hearing and vision screenings are also conducted.

The Onaa Program offers center base parent education group activities. Onaa also helps or sponsors family events throughout the year. These activities and events help reduce isolation. They allow for parents to get together to visit and also learn from each other

The Onaa Program offers transportation to doctor's visits and WIC appointments to those parents who otherwise would not be able to keep their appointments. If parents are in need of food, car seats, clothing, or other items, we can help them connect with other community resources and services that might better meet their needs.
